The Doce Pares 70th and 71st Anniversaries were celebrated in December 2002 and 2003 with both Peter Shannon and Marc Toussaint in attendance to represent Australia.

The who's who of Filipino Martial Arts were in attendance with both local and international representation from most known Filipino Styles and GM Diony released his long-awaited Stick and Dagger book in June 2004.

These Anniversaries also heralded the release of new Videos to formalize all the Doce Pares Traditional Formwork all performed by GM Diony Cañete so as to provide the standard around the world - At this time we are as up to date in this area as any Doce Pares group active worldwide.

Peter Shannon's recent attendance at the 71st Anniversary celebrations also saw him complete formal training assessments for Doce Pares 6th Grade Black Belt ranking in January, 2004.

A successful training trip completed in July 2005 had all our travelers sweating through daily sessions, both morning and afternoon with GM Diony Cañete and senior Doce Pares instructors. During the stay, a tournament was held for local qualifiers for the 9th World Championships in the USA, with Marc Toussaint refereeing many bouts, including the first ever long-stick (54") bout in the history of tournament fighting. Peter Shannon had the privilege of referring the finals bouts on the day. While there, a TV sports forum was held and all the Aussies were interviewed for the show. Newspaper articles also covered the group's stay and efforts.

Doce Pares Australia will be participating in a Sponsorship Program headed by GM Diony Cañete for young children in Cebu City. This program will help provide schooling and Filipino martial arts training for selected individuals and close ongoing relationships with the sponsorship group, the individual children and their families.

We will all be looking forward to the establishment of such close ties with the local Filipino community via our support and sponsorship as an ongoing long-term commitment from Doce Pares Australia to the Doce Pares International family in Cebu.
